In this article, you'll learn:
During a meeting, the conversation can become distracted by topics, issues, questions or initiatives that are important but off topic for that meeting. These are Backburner items. To help keep the conversation focused on the agenda and goals at hand, you can acknowledge the issue and capture it as a Backburner item in the meeting notes. This practice helps meeting participants feel confident the topic will be addressed in the future and therefore ready to move the conversation back on track.
You can only create a Backburner item on the Take Notes page of a meeting. Click "T" (Task) as the note type and select Backburner in the Task Group drop-down menu. Assign an owner who be responsible for ensuring the topic is addressed at the right time.
